Jewish Interest Tour
A special interest tour dedicated to the small Jewish community in Havana. A varied number of visits include the Adath Israel, an Orthodox congregation which can be found in in Old Havana followed by a visit to the only kosher butcher in Cuba, who distributes meat to the Community as part of the Government backed ration system.
Visits will also be made to the Centro Hebreo Sephardi de Cuba where you can meet heads of the community, and hear about the congregation, the challenges they face and the programmes they offer, as well as a visit their new Holocaust Remembrance Hall.
Please note this is not a tourist attraction, and must be reconfirmed close to departure once availability of the visit has been verified.
Adath Israel closed Saturdays, Centro Hebreo Sephardi closed Sundays. We therefore recommend weekdays only. Whilst our tour is private, other groups may also be visiting at the same time, which we are not notified of in advance.
From over 24 000 Cubans of Jewish ancestry in the 1920 to 1 500 by 2007, the Jewish community in Cuba has dwindled in numbers but remains active and cohesive.
