An old fortress, ’The Castle’ Hotel is perched high on a hillside in Baracoa with spectacular views of the city below. Originally built between 1737 and 1742 when it was a Spanish fortress called the Santa Barbara Castle. It was built to defend the city from the attacks of buccaneers and pirates, and afterwards hosted the general quarters of the Village Guards until the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Nowadays it is a small resort-style hotel with pleasant grounds and wonderful views, and is a popular choice with our clients
The hotel features a restaurant, bar and snack bar, fresh water swimming pool and children’s pool, some evening entertainment, and small shop.
