After undergoing a full renovation, the Riviera is back! Maintaining the original 1950s style and providing modern facilities and large ocean front rooms, we love the large pool and fresh feel of the hotel.
Located in a commanding position overlooking the ocean and Malecon promenade in downtown Havana, the 16-story Habana Riviera Hotel is one of the most iconic buildings across the skyline.
Perhaps no other hotel in Havana retains the flavour of the 1950s as well as the Riviera and to stay here you are reliving a fascinating chapter in Havana’s long history. Ginger Rogers inaugurated the hotel in December 1957, playing the legendary Copa Room of this seafront hotel built by the infamous mobster Meyer Lansky, and a favourite haunt of the Mob.
The mafia’s days at the Riviera were quickly scrapped with the Revolution, but the imposing lobby still reflects elements typical of the era including royal blue chaises paired with red club chairs and a beautiful marble floor. Prominent Cuban sculptors were commissioned by the Mafia and their timeless marble and bronze statues still decorate the lobby.
The spacious lobby bar enjoys amazing views directly across the Malecon to the ocean with the waves almost next to the bar. The famous Copa Room Cabaret is the stage for a Tropicana-like show and operates as a disco into the early morning. The hotel also features an outdoor swimming pool with the original, three-level diving platform as well as two restaurants, pool/sun decks, café, shopping and other services.
